Luis Cruz Azaceta was born in Havana, Cuba. He studied art and graduated from the School of Visual Arts in New York City and became an American citizen. www.luiscruzazaceta.net "Art gave me a voice at a time when I had no identity. Living in the large metropolis of New York, I found myself without a country, language or direction. There was a great need to express my condition as well as my surroundings. Painting became the vehicle. My whole trajectory of work has focused on the inhumanity, injustice and cruelty that we commit against each other."
